Hotel At The Golden Scissors is located on the picturesque island of Kampa, right next to Charles Bridge in the heart of historic Prague. Built in 1586, the Renaissance building is one of the oldest on the island. In 1804 it was rebuilt by architect Ignatio Palliardi to its current Classicist shape.

Kampa island is one of Prague's gems. Separated from the left bank by a narrow stream called Certovka (Devil's Brook), it's just to the left of famous Charles Bridge as you cross it towards Lesser Town. There are a number of bars, restaurants and shops in this small area, as well as a park which overlooks the Vltava river and offers shaded bench seating as well as expansive lawns for sunbathing. Many popular movies were filmed in the direct vicinity of the hotel At The Golden Scissors.

All popular tourist and shopping venues are very easily reached from Kampa's location. If you remember, do this: As you exit the hotel, turn left towards Charles Bridge and walk a few paces to the end of "the block". Look at the corner of the last building on the left - there is a marker which shows flood water levels throughout history; the recent flood of 2002 was by far the most severe.
