Description

Bed and Breakfast Merlin is located close to Prague's historical center, between Charles Square and the Vltava river (one block away). It is very near the controversial - love it or hate it - "Dancing House".

Originally named "Fred and Ginger" (after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers) the Dancing House vaguely resembles a pair of dancers. The building stands out in stark contrast to the Neo-Baroque, Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous.

Nearest subway/metro station, "Karlovo náměstí" (line B), is 300 meters away. In two stops and about five minutes you'll find yourself at "Muzeum" station (lines A and C) on top of Wenceslas Square. From there all of Prague's major sights are easily negotiated on foot.

Actually, the National and Black Light theaters, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, St. Wenceslas Square, Lesser Town and much more are all within a 15-20 minutes walk. If you wish to see Prague on the cheap or don't like walking uphill, you can hop on a tram and get to the Prague Castle area in about 15 minutes. You'll meander through some of Prague's lovliest sections for just a few crowns.

Room Amenities

Accommodations are located on five floors (with elevator) and are all newly refurbished with tasteful furniture. Except for two rooms, all are equipped with new private bathrooms. Some rooms have en suite facilities (category A), and others have private bathrooms off the corridor, beside the room (category B). The higher floor rooms will award a beautiful view of the Prague Castle panorama. An apartment with kitchen and en suite bathroom is located on the first floor.

For guests' use, there is a refrigerator and electric kettle on each floor.

Services

Within the building is the stylish "Stará doba" (Old Times) restaurant, featuring a medieval atmosphere and on occasion, live period music. Enjoy a fine, Czech meal and a cold glass of Pilsner, or relax in the restaurant’s garden in the quiet courtyard.

Each morning breakfast is offered from 8.30 to 10.15 a.m. for only 80 crowns per person.

Free parking is possible on the street (though not always available), or in nearby Vaclavské garages, which are 200 meters from the Merlin and cost 400 crowns per day.

An Internet Café is located just accross the street.
